 In
the last Westminster election, held in 2005, the SNP polled just
9% of the vote. Our opponents would like the voters to think
nothing has changed since then and keep playing the broken record
that it is a two-horse race. Of course you know and we
know that this view is nonsense. It is the voters that will
decide whether this is the case. However, the SNP won a
historic national victory in the Scottish Parliament Election in
2007. In doing this, the party received the most 'first votes' (26% or 14,400 votes) in
total across the
two Borders constituencies. If everyone who
voted for Alex Salmond for First Minister votes SNP in the next
Westminster election, our candidate, Paul
Wheelhouse, can win. It's as simple as that.
With the SNP now forming
the Scottish Government and the Scottish Parliament's largest
party, and Alex Salmond MSP as Scotland's First Minister, we in
the SNP believe we have a historic opportunity to finally win Berwickshire,
Roxburgh and Selkirk and represent the people of this wonderful
constituency, and we will be working hard to earn your trust.
Based upon recent Scottish poll ratings for the
parties,
independent analysts and observers, such as "Electoral
Calculus" project that the seat could be heading for a
close three-way contest between the SNP, Tories and Lib
Dems. |
